Vitasta Welfare Fund for Displaced Kashmiris
Saraswathi Educational Cultural and Charitable Trust has been rendering assistance to displaced Kashmiri pundits in Jagati, Purukhu, Muthi and other camps in Jammu since 2016. Recently work has also been started in Kashmir at ‘Vessu Migrant employees Colony’ by opening a library and Computer centre.
It has been conducting Job Fairs, career guidance, providing competitive exam books and text books, sports and gym equipment, sewing machines, musical instruments, computers, organising skill training, giving marriage assistance to the daughters of the widows and other needy families.
Occasional humanitarian assistance is also given in dire circumstances of death, funerals, emergency relief, disease and accidents.
The trust has also been giving Indira Gariyali, Ravi Garyali and Ravi Misri educational Scholarships to orphan and single parent children. From year 2026, it has also instituted Ravi Garyali, Indira Garyali and It is helped in preserving and protecting the Kashmiri Hindu heritage and has revived traditional ritualistic ‘Vanvun and folk singing’. The trust has provided traditional costumes and musical instruments and has launched ‘Vitasta Heritage Artists'. Three women’s groups are currently augmenting their income through performing on occasion of marriages and sacred thread ceremonies.
To preserve the Hindu social and cultural heritage of Kashmir, the trust has published ‘Kashmir the Land of Kashyapa’ by Dr. C K Gariyali. Dr Gariyali has also authored ‘My Beautiful Journey from Kashmir to Knayakumari’ and ‘Katha Sati Sagar’ jointly with Shri. Raj Nehru.
The above activities are undertaken with the assistance of our local grass-root level partner Help-Line Humanity, based in Jagti Camp and run by camp grown migrant leadership headed by Shri. M K Bhat.
For assisting the displaced Kashmiri Migrants the Trust has created a separate fund called ‘Vitasta Welfare Fund’. A fervent appeal is made to individuals and organisations to make their contribution to the Vitasta welfare fund.
